Name of Killed Boater Released

(RIGBY, ID) – Authorities have released the name of a Rigby woman who died in a boating accident over the weekend. 33-year-old Cara Tomita died Saturday evening when a boat she was on ran aground along the South Fork of the Snake River. The driver of the boat, 34-year-old Chris Fife of Idaho Falls, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time. Investigators say he lost control of the boat and hit the edge of the river channel. Both Fife and another passenger were taken to EIRMC with undisclosed injuries.
