National Gas Averages Unaffected by Violence in Egypt
Published at(WASHINGTON) — New data from the Energy Department shows the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has dropped a penny since last week to $3.55. It appears gas prices in the U.S. remain unaffected by the ongoing violence in Egypt.
Million of barrels of oil travel through the Suez Canal each day — less than a hundred miles from Cairo. Fears about a disruption in supply, as a result of the violence, have driven crude oil prices up to $107 a barrel.
Drivers on the West Coast are paying the most for their gas. The average price in that region is $3.68, down 5 cents from last week. The Gulf Coast region has the cheapest gas with the average price at $3.37.
