Sixty-one-year-old self-proclaimed supremacist Craig Cobb moved into the town about a year ago and began buying property with hopes of making Leith the “White Nationalist intentional community in North Dakota.”

“People’s comfort level is best when they’re amongst their own,” Cobb, who, according to The Bismarck Tribune, currently owns one home and 12 other lots, said. The number of lots is significant, considering that the town only has about 19 people.

But his neighbor, Sherril Harper, doesn’t agree with Cobb’s vision for the town. She’s in an interracial marriage.

“Don’t bring hatred and don’t bring your harmful ideas,” she said.

Town officials are considering their options to prevent Leith from becoming a haven for white supremacists. One option includes dissolving the local government in order for the county to assume control to prevent a takeover.
