No. 6 South Carolina Kicks Off Season on Right Foot

Getty Clowney?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1377839864056Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(COLUMBIA, South Carolina) — It took longer than expected but sixth-ranked South Carolina kicked off its 2013 College Football season with a dominating 27-10 win over North Carolina Thursday.

The Gamecocks raced out to a 27-10 lead before the game was delayed for almost two hours with 8:20 left in the fourth quarter due to lightning. When play resumed, South Carolina (1-0) held the Tar Heels (0-1) scoreless on two drives to secure the victory.

South Carolina started off the game on fire scoring on their first three drives of the game. That all started 1:19 into the game when Connor Shaw connected with Shaq Roland for a 65-yard touchdown.

South Carolina sophomore Mike Davis rushed for 115 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
