(ST. ANTHONY, ID) – The Better Business Bureau is warning Upper Valley residents about a scam being operated out of Rexburg. The scammers, who work under the company name Black Magic Asphalt, are offering discount paving jobs with what they claim is material left over from other projects. Would-be victims are asked to make a large payment upfront. The scammers then do a shoddy job or no job at all. Officials say the company is not registered to do work in Idaho. They also caution that good contractors usually know how much asphalt they’ll need for jobs, making the likelihood of leaving enough excess material for a full driveway minimal.
