“Planes,” “Elysium” Open Nationwide Friday
Published at(NEW YORK) — Two films, We’re the Millers and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, opened earlier this week.
On Friday, another two movies make their debut: the animated Disney flick Planes and the Matt Damon drama Elysium. Here’s a closer look:
— Planes: Dane Cook voices Dusty, a crop duster that’s afraid of heights but pushes itself to the limit to compete in a global air race. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Teri Hatcher, Brad Garrett, John Cleese and Val Kilmer also lend their voices to the film, which is screening in 3D. Rated PG.
— Elysium: The film is set in a futuristic world where the wealthy live on a space station called Elysium, and the rest of civilization inhabits a not-so-nice planet. Matt Damon’s Max takes on a dangerous mission to unite the two worlds. Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley also star in the movie, which was helmed by District 9 director Neill Blomkamp. Rated R.
