Red Sox Halt Dodgers Win Streak at Four
Published at(LOS ANGELES) — Jon Lester pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing one run, three hits, four walks while striking out six, as the Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 Saturday.
The loss ends the Dodgers four-game win streak.
Red Sox outfielder Jonny Gomes hit a three-run home run in the first inning and first baseman Mike Napoli went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win.
Lester now has quality starts in his last four games.
“For the most part, I commanded the ball pretty well and was able to move the fastball around and get some weak contact from a good-hitting lineup,” Lester said. “I know what I’m capable of. It’s just a matter of going out there and doing it. Since the (All-Star) break, I’ve felt good physically, and I feel like I’m in a good place throwing the ball right now.”
The Red Sox (76-55) remain tied with the Tampa Bay Rays (74-53) for first place in the AL East.
The win was the Red Sox first ever at Dodger Stadium.
