(TAMPA) — Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been medically cleared to play by Dr. James Andrews.
Andrews examined Griffin prior to last night’s game against the Buccaneers and did not see anything wrong with his knee.
“Operation Patience. …Complete. Cleared. To God Be The Glory,” Griffin tweeted after the game.
Head coach Mike Shanahan would not say whether Griffin III would start the opener on Sept. 9 against the Eagles.
“Dr. Andrews, after talking to him, he has approved Robert to play,” Shanahan said after a 30-12 win over the Bucs. “There is a couple of concerns that he has. I’ll talk to Robert over the weekend and let you guys know on Monday.”
Griffin started taking reps against the starting defense last week.
