Rockets’ Jeremy Lin Says His Coaches Lost Faith in Him Last Season

Bob Levey/Getty Images(NBA) — Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin admits that “Linsanity” got the best of him last season and one of the consequences was that his coaches lost confidence in him after a shaky first season with the team.
During the 2011-2012, Lin was a member of the New York Knicks and took the league by storm for a stretch of time because of a borage of big-time scoring performances.
Lin cashed in the following offseason and signed a three-year deal with the Rockets worth $25 million.
But he struggled to perform up to the standards set by “Linsanity” and he says it caused his coaches to lose confidence in him.
“I became so obsessed with becoming a great basketball player…trying to be Linsanity, being this phenomenon that took the NBA by storm,” Lin said.
“The coaches were losing faith in me; basketball fans were making fun of me. …I was supposed to be joyful and free, but what I experienced was the opposite. I had no joy, and I felt no freedom.”
Last season, Lin averaged 13.4 points and 6.1 assists per game.
