Sandpoint Archaeological Dig Yields Treasures
Published at(SANDPOINT, ID) – Archaeologists working at Sandpoint’s original town site have unearthed hundreds of thousands of historical artifacts. The Sand Creek Byway along U.S. Highway 95 now covers the site, but historians wanted to have a good look at the area before it was redeveloped. Officials say they found hundreds of glass bottles, combs, buttons, a gun, and even tools from a Chinese Laundry dating back to the turn-of-the-century. The items were unveiled to the public last week in Sandpoint.
