Sources: Phillies Agree to Extension with Chase Utley

Robert Rogers/ MLB Photos via Getty Images (PHILADELPHIA) — Chase Utley does not want to leave Philadelphia, and it looks like he has been granted his wish.
According to sources, the Phillies and Utley have agreed to a two-year contract extension that will keep him in Philadelphia through the 2015 season.
Before the All-Star break, Utley said: “I’ve never envisioned wearing another team’s uniform.”
The deal is reportedly for two-years and $27 million. The 34-year-old Utley would have become a free agent at the end of the season.
Utley was hitting .277 with 15 homers and 43 RBIs in 84 games entering Wednesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs. He hasn’t played more than 115 games in a season since 2009 because of chronic knee problems.
