Super Bowl Champion Ravens Dominate Preseason Opener
Published at(TAMPA, Fla.) — The Baltimore Ravens picked up right where they left off in February, opening their preseason with a 44-16 dismantling of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco was sharp early, completing 7-of-9 passes for 57 yards. He did throw an interception, but the overall performance from the team pleased head coach John Harbaugh.
“We’re a very different team than we were, so we were really anxious to get on the field and just see who we are because we really don’t know in a lot of ways,” Harbaugh said. “We suspect we have a chance to be a good team, but we’ve got a long way to go as far as being on the same page in a lot of ways, so it’s a good thing we’ve got preseason, obviously.”
Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman was 4-for-7 for 34 yards and was sacked once in his preseason debut.
