Wall Street Stocks Climb to Record Finish
Published at(NEW YORK) — After a disappointing jobs report on Friday, stocks clawed back from an early slide to finish the week at record levels for the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500.
The Dow, on a six-week winning streak, closed up 30 points to finish at 15,658. Friday was the 30th record close of the year for the Dow.
The S&P closed up 2.8 points to finish at 1,709 — also a fresh record high. The S&P index finished the session with its 25th record close for the year.
The Nasdaq Composite also finished higher Friday, closing up 13.84 points at a fresh 13-year high of 3,689.59.
Meanwhile, Facebook finally closed above its IPO price of $38 a share on Friday. The social network had traded above its IPO several days this week, but each time closed just below $38.
