Wolverine Canyon Fire Continues to Burn

(FIRTH, ID) – A wildfire started in Wolverine Canyon east of Firth Wednesday. Officials say the blaze was likely caused by lightning after a thunderstorm moved through the area at around 3 p.m. Blackfoot River Road was closed as the flames spread on the north side of the Narrows. No buildings were threatened,

Crews were back on the fire-line at 7:00 a.m.Thursday morning.   A recon flight took place to map the fire and provide the Incident Commander details on what the fire is doing. The Fire is still estimated to be 250 acres and made no substantial growth during the night. Currently five heavy engines, 2 light engines, two dozers, two handcrews, and one water tender are on scene.  Incident Commander Hofhine is optimistic firefighters will reach 100% containment by Friday evening
