Yankees Explode for 14 Runs in Rout of Angels
(NEW YORK) -- For one night at least, the Bronx Bombers were back in action.
Alfonso Soriano homered twice and drove in six runs, and Alex Rodriguez drove in a pair, as the New York Yankees routed the Los Angeles Angels 14-7 on Tuesday night.
CC Sabathia (10-10) gave up three runs in six innings, reaching double-digit wins for the 13th time in his 13-year career.
"I felt like I had pretty good stuff," Sabathia said. "I got into some trouble and I was able to make the pitches and get outs but it was just a battle."
Jason Vargas took the loss for the Angels, giving up four runs in just over four innings of work. Mike Trout hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning, but it was too late for the slumping Angels.
The teams will meet Wednesday night for the third game of a four-game series.
