The spokesperson also says the 70-year-old Connolly, who lent his voice to Disney’s 2012 animated film Brave, is battling Parkinson’s disease.

The BBC quotes the rep as saying, “Billy Connolly recently underwent minor surgery in America after being diagnosed with the very early stages of prostate cancer.” Connolly is said to be fully recovered after the surgery.

The rep adds that Connolly has “been assessed as having the initial symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, for which he is receiving the appropriate treatment.”

The spokesperson says Connolly’s health setbacks will not affect his ability to work.

Connolly’s credits include Mrs Brown, The Boondock Saints, The Last Samurai, Quartet and the next two Hobbit films.
