Affordable Care Act: Where to Get Your Questions Answered

“I think that’s one of the problems…there’s not enough information,” says Dr. Karen Pollitz with the Kaiser Family Foundation.   

Fortunately, there is help.

“They can go to www.healthcare.gov,” she says. That’s the federal website that will answer some of your basic questions, like how do you qualify, what kind of coverages are available, and links to your state’s plan.

“You’ll see information about assisters, sometimes they’ll be called navigators, whom you can meet with or talk to on the phone and get your question answered, walk through this step by step and find out what you need to know,” Pollitz notes.

You can also check out the Kaiser Family Foundation’s website, kff.org, which has a calculator that allows you to plug in your situation and gives you estimated costs for your new health care plan.

But don’t worry, you have some time to choose — open enrollment closes on March 1.
