MSNBC announced the actor will be at the helm of a weekly current events and culture talk show titled Up Late w/Alec Baldwin.

Baldwin got the gig by honing his hosting skills with a public radio podcast, Here’s the Thing, which he started in 2011.  On his show, he’s interviewed a variety of notables from politicians to entertainers, including David Letterman.

“After two seasons of my WNYC podcast, I’ve developed a fondness for hosting a show that involved talking with smart, talented and engaging people in every imaginable field,” Baldwin said in a statement.  “I’m grateful to MSNBC for helping me bring a similar show to television.”

Up Late w/Alec Baldwin will air on MSNBC Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning in October.
