Weiner, who is not a favorite to win Tuesday’s Democratic primary in New York, appeared on MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell on Monday night and found himself in a sparring match with O’Donnell, whose first question was “What is wrong with you?”

O’Donnell repeated the question throughout the interview, asking Weiner why he continued to run despite all of his public troubles.

“Beating me up isn’t hard to do,” Weiner responded.  “Better men have done it.”

Weiner and O’Donnell then traded barbs on air, with O’Donnell asking Weiner why he had a “desperate need for elective office” and Weiner telling O’Donnell to “chillax” and “dial it down a second.”

O’Donnell also asked Weiner what he planned to do after he lost the mayor’s race, a defeat that Weiner would not admit was a possibility.

“I don’t plan on losing,” Weiner said.

“How long do you think it will take you to decide what to do after you lose tomorrow?” O’Donnell said.

“You mean after I win two terms as mayor?” Weiner replied to laughter from O’Donnell, who called the former congressman “delusional.”

The segment ended on air but continued in a web-only exclusive.
