Bob Filner in Trouble Again

Bill Wechter/Getty Images(SAN DIEGO) — Former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner just can’t stay out of the headlines.
Filner previously said he did not sexually harass upwards of 20 women but agreed last month to step down “for the part that I have played for putting the city through a difficult time.”
While the California Attorney General’s office has launched a criminal investigation into Filner’s alleged activities, now comes word that Filner might have used the San Diego treasury as his personal piggy bank.
San Diego Councilman Kevin Faulconer, the head of the council’s audit committee, said Filner racked up some big time expenses with the city credit card by going out to fancy restaurants. But the big ticket item was a trip to Paris to speak at the National Council of Resistance of Iran.
The charge to San Diego came out to $22,000 because Filner took along a security detail. The former mayor may have put San Diego’s credit rating at risk by using his city credit card for personal expenses and making late payments.
It’s possible Filner could now face civil or criminal charges independent of the probe into his alleged harassment of women.
