Buccaneers’ Dashon Goldson Wins Appeal, Won’t Be Suspended

NFL via Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Dashon Goldson took on the NFL and he won. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety won his appeal and will not be suspended for the team’s game against the New England Patriots Sunday.
Goldson was originally suspended for his hit on New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles this past Sunday as a result of a helmet-to-helmet hit.
Even though he avoided suspension, the NFL will still fine Goldson $100,000 for the hit. The NFL had already fined Goldson $30,000 for his hit to New York Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland.
Part of why Goldson has had to deal with such harsh treatment by the NFL is largely due to his history. Since 2010, Goldson has drawn 15 personal fouls, which is more than any other player in the NFL during that span.
This is Goldson’s first season with the Buccaneers. During the offseason, he signed a five-year deal with the Buccaneers worth $41.25 million. He spent the first six years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers.
