Cives Steel Seeking Property Tax Exemption

(UCON, ID) – Representatives from Cives Steel made their case for a five-year property tax exemption Tuesday afternoon. In a meeting with Bonneville County Commissioners, authorities argued that they met all six requirements needed for a 100 percent exemption. Under a statute adopted in 2008, Idaho law allows certain companies that meet certain criteria to qualify for the exemption. The city of Ucon and District 93 want a 50 percent exemption only, contending that revenue would be helpful for the community. If granted, the full exemption would save the  company just under $800,000 over five years.
