“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2,” “Don Jon,” and More Open Friday
Published at(NEW YORK) — Here’s a look at the new movies opening nationwide Friday:
— Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2: In the sequel to the hit 2009 comedy, Flint Lockwood’s invention — the one that turned water into food — is now creating food-animal hybrids. That’s not a good thing. Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Andy Samberg, Neil Patrick Harris and Benjamin Bratt lend their voices to the film, which is screening in 3D. Rated PG.
— Don Jon: Joseph Gordon-Levitt wrote and directed this comedy, in which he stars as a sexually-active man who’s addicted to porn. He strikes up a romance with a woman, played by Scarlett Johansson, who has a different perspective on love. Julianne Moore, Tony Danza and Brie Larson also star. Rated R. — Baggage Claim: Paula Patton is a flight attendant who tries to find a fiancé in the 30 days leading up to her younger sister’s wedding. Djimon Hounsou, Derek Luke, Taye Diggs and Tia Mowry also star. Rated PG-13.

— Rush: Ron Howard’s latest film tells the story of the heated rivalry between Formula 1 race car drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda in the 1970s. Chris Hemsworth plays Hunt, and Inglourious Basterds actor Daniel Bruhl co-stars as Lauda. Rated R. [Click here to read a review]
