Contractors Facing More Problems With Hoku Suit

(POCATELLO, ID) – Officials for JH Kelly, the lead contractor for building the now-shuttered Hoku plant in Pocatello, are facing a setback in federal court. Authorities say they’re now required to go through an international court in the Netherlands and must translate all court documents into Chinese. They believe Hoku/Tianwei is abusing the U.S. legal system in order to skirt around paying more than $100 million still owed, plus additional fines for fraud and racketeering. Hoku/Tianwei abandoned the plant last year, and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in July.
