“There’s no alarm bells to ring. But that’s a subject that gets addressed as a matter of process (after) the season,” Cubs president Theo Epstein told CSNChicago.com. “We’ve been very upfront about the fact that we’re not evaluating Dale on wins and losses.”

“Our record is more of a reflection of the roster that we’ve put on the field as a baseball operations department and where we are in this building process,” he continued.

It is no secret that the team is building for the future by stockpiling minor league talent, but the results haven’t been pretty under Sveum at the Major League level.

Heading into Thursday, the team is 63-89, good for last place in the NL Central. In Sveum’s first season as Cubs’ manager in 2012, the team went just 61-101.

The Cubs haven’t made the playoffs since 2008, and haven’t won a playoff game since 2003.
