(ANN ARBOR, Mich.) — Wearing No. 98 in honor of former tailback Tom Harmon, junior quarterback Devin Gardner passed for four touchdowns and scored another on the ground as (17) Michigan (2-0) rolled past (14) Notre Dame (1-1) Saturday Night, 41-30.
Up 34-30 with 4:18 to play in the game, the 21-year-old found senior wide receiver Dan Dielo for a four-yard touchdown, sealing the victory for Michigan. Gardner finished the game completing 21 of 33 passes for 294 yards, while rushing for 82 yards on 13 carries.
The game was played in front of an NCAA-record crowd of 115,109.
