Ellis hit a solo homer to give the Dodgers a 7-6 lead in the top of the eighth inning. That turned out to be the final score.

Kenley Jansen retired the side in the bottom of the ninth and recorded two strikeouts to give the Dodgers the win.

Ricky Nolasco started the game for the Dodgers, but gave up nine hits and six runs in five innings.

Brandon League, J.P. Howell, and Brian Wilson kept the Diamondbacks’ offense in check the rest of the way.

The last time the Dodgers won the division was in 2009. Their last World Series title came back in 1988.
