(NEW YORK) -- Atlanta Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon and running back Stephen Jackson will both miss some time due to injuries.
The Falcons announced Weatherspoon has been placed on the short-term injured reserve list due to a foot injury he endured during the team's game versus the Rams Sunday. The 25-year-old Weatherspoon will miss at least eight weeks due to the injury.
Meanwhile, Jackson endured a thigh injury Sunday that ESPN's Ed Werder reports will cause Jackson to miss three weeks.
"He will not play this week. I know that," Falcons head coach Mike Smith said. "It is short term. When I say short term, I don't know if it's two weeks or three weeks, but Steven is ruled out for the game this week and will not play."
Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling are expected to share the running back duties while Jackson's out.
With Weatherspoon out, the Falcons are expected to give Joplo Bartu and Paul Worrilow more playing time. The team also signed free agent linebackers Jamar Chaney and Omar Gaither.
