(LAS VEGAS) –WBA Super light middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. dominated Canelo Alvarez Saturday night to win the WBC light middleweight championship.
The 36-year-old Mayweather won via decision, with two judges scoring the fight 117-111 and 116-112 while a third judge had the fight a draw at 114-114.
Mayweather’s speed was the difference maker in the bout, as he was able to land straight rights and left jabs, while ducking out of the way before Alvarez could answer. Mayweather landed 232 of 505 punches as Alvarez connected on 117 of 526.
Mayweather remains undefeated at 45-0 while Alvarez falls to 42-1-1.
