Former Rigby Councilman Makes Alford Plea

(RIGBY, ID) – Former Rigby city councilman Reid Blackburn entered an Alford plea for one count of insurance fraud Monday.  Blackburn maintains his innocence, but admits that the evidence in the case would likely result in a guilty verdict. According to court documents, Blackburn allegedly falsely identified himself as the son of Margaret Orvick in an insurance application. The charge carries a possible 15-year prison sentence and a $15,000 fine. Blackburn, who is free on bond, is due to be sentenced in November.
