(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – A Rexburg man is facing a misdemeanor charge after he left a handgun in his carry-on bag at the Idaho Falls Regional Airport last week.  Federal authorities say 50-year-old Jeffrey Jones had an unloaded Kel-Tec 9mm pistol in his luggage when security officers saw it in the X-ray machine. Jones was reportedly getting onto a flight to Las Vegas at the time of the incident. The gun was confiscated, but Jones was allowed to continue through the terminal, since officials did not believe Jones had any intention to use the firearm or cause harm to anyone else. Jones faces a fine of up to $7,500.
