How Much Will Affordable Care Act Cost You?

Hemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — What’s the number one concern for most people with the new health care law? Costs.
Saying they could get similar insurance for the same price through the new federal exchanges, some companies have been dropping part-time workers from their plans. But, as Karen Pollitz with the Kaiser Family Foundation points out, you are the one who has to decide what kind of coverage you want.
“They’ll be a choice of plans. Kind of high cost plans that have lost cost sharing and low cost plans that have high cost sharing,” Pollitz says.
If you’re under age 30, you can also opt for catastrophic coverage. That means all preventative services would be covered, but you’d pay for anything else, until you reach the annual limit of $6,350.
The Kaiser Family Foundation has a calculator on its website, kff.org, that allows you to put in your numbers to estimate your costs.
