The Colts (2-1) got their party started quick. They marched 80 yards down the field on their opening drive which ended with Richardson rushing for a one yard touchdown.

The Niners answered a little later when Kendall Hunter rushed for a 13 yard touchdown to tie the game.

Both defenses played well the next two quarters, with two Adam Vinatieri field goals being the only points. But the Colts opened it up in the fourth with quarterback Andrew Luck rushing for a six-yard touchdown and Bradshaw rushing for a one yarder on the team’s next drive.

Luck finished the game completing 18-of-27 passes for 164 yards in the win.

The game marked the fist time Luck played against his old Stanford coach, now Niners head coach Jim Harbaugh.

“I wasn’t caught up in, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m going up against Coach Harbaugh, (Greg) Roman and (Vic) Fangio,” Luck said. “I figured any time you play this sport, coaches and players come and go so much that you always end up going against someone that you played for or played with or had a good relationship with.”

Meanwhile, things didn’t go great for Harbaugh’s team. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick completed under 50 percent of his passes and had two turnovers in the loss.

“I think we’re stopping ourselves,” Kaepernick said after suffering his first career home loss as a starter. “We just didn’t execute.”

San Francisco also lost linebacker Patrick Willis in the third quarter to a groin injury. The six-time Pro Bowler did not return and declined to speak with reporters after the game.

The 49ers (1-2) have now lost two straight games for the first time since Harbaugh took over as coach in 2011.
