Abrams, who is working on a new Star Wars movie for Disney, tells Collider.com he will not helm the next Star Trek sequel, saying, “It’s a little bittersweet.  But, I will say that I’m going to be producing the movie.  Whomever it is that directs the film will be someone we all know is going to keep the cast and crew in good hands.”

Abrams also mentioned that he’s working on a new Star Trek story with screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci.

Abrams directed 2009’s Star Trek and this year’s Star Trek Into Darkness.  His Star Wars film, Episode VII, is due out in 2015.
