The hit was Jeter’s 3,314th of his career, pushing him past Eddie Collins for the ninth spot.

“It is pretty amazing what he has accomplished,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. “Obviously, he will continue to move up.”

The 39-year-old Jeter is now five hits from passing Paul Molitor for eighth on the list.

Jeter has battled injuries all season, but has now played in a season-high eight straight games.

The 13-time All-Star has a player option worth $9.5 million with the Yankees for the 2014 season.
