(FLORHAM PARK, N.J.) — In yet another attempt to find depth at the quarterback position. the New York Jets signed Brady Quinn on Monday.
The signing could impact the future of Mark Sanchez, who may be losing the starting job to rookie Geno Smith.
Quinn is an experienced NFL quarterback who could serve as a mentor to Smith if he is named the opening day starter. The Cleveland Browns drafted Quinn in the first round of the NFL draft in 2007. He has also spent time with the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs.
The Seattle Seahawks cut Quinn this past weekend after a solid preseason.
Graham Harrell was cut by the Jets to make room for Quinn.
