Caroline Biden, 26, was detained after officers responded to her building in Tribeca just after 9 a.m., according to New York City Police Department officials.

After officers responded to a report of a dispute, Biden then became physical with the officers, police said.

She was taken to the local precinct for questioning but has not been charged, police said.

It was unclear what the original dispute was about, police said. Caroline Biden is subletting an apartment in the building, a source told ABC News.

In 2009, Biden was questioned while riding an Amtrak train because of a “misunderstanding over a train fare,” an Amtrak spokeswoman said at the time.  Biden, who was a student at Georgetown University at the time, wasn’t arrested or charged.

She is the daughter of Joe Biden’s brother, James Biden Sr.
