(TEL AVIV, Israel) — Secretary of State John Kerry is in Israel on Sunday for a meeting with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Kerry will brief Netanyahu on the United States’ agreement with Russia to rid Syria of chemical weapons.
Israeli leaders are expressing cautious optimism over the deal.
Israeli President Shimon Peres pointed out that President Obama’s threat of military action remains on the table if the deal isn’t implemented.
Kerry, who sealed the agreement in Geneva, will brief Israeli leaders before flying to Paris for further meetings.
