(LOS ANGELES) — Cougars place kicker Andrew Furney drilled a 41-yard field goal with 3:03 to play in the fourth quarter as Washington State (1-1, 1-0- Pac-12) upended No. 25 USC (1-1, 0-1 Pac-12) Saturday Night, 10-7. It’s their first victory at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 13 years.
The Trojans passing offense was anemic throughout the game as sophomore quarterbacks Cody Kessler and Max Wittek finished the game a combined 11 of 21 for 54 yards and two interceptions. Sophomore running back Tre Madden rushed for 151 yards on 32 carries.
USC scored their lone touchdown on a Kessler four-yard run at 9:59 in the second quarter. That touchdown was set up by the Trojans defense which finished the game with two forced turnovers.
Southern California fans made their displeasure known to head coach Lane Kiffin during the game, booing him and chanting negative comments.
