The Lions (3-1) are now tied atop the NFC North with the Bears (3-1).

It wasn’t only the Lions’ defense that did damage. Detroit’s offense put up 27 points in the second quarter, scoring on five straight drives.

Reggie Bush accounted for 173 yards of total offense and scored on a 37 yard run in the second quarter to put the Lions up 30-10.

The Lions held a big lead until the end of the fourth quarter when Cutler led the Bears on two long scoring drives. Cutler threw touchdowns to Alshon Jeffery and Earl Bennett and converted two two-point conversions to pull within eight of Detroit with 43 seconds left.

The Bears attempted an onside kick but Lions receiver Kris Durham recovered it to secure the win.

Cutler completed 27 of 47 passes for 317 yards, two touchdowns, three interceptions and a fumble in the loss.

“We were feeding off of each other,” Lions safety Louis Delmas said. “And although they got a couple of touchdowns at the end there, we felt that we beat them. I give credit to my coaching staff and to my conditioning. They gave us the right calls to make plays.”
