Man Accidently Impales Self on Elk Antler

(VERNAL, UT) – A Utah man was hospitalized Saturday after impaling himself with an elk antler. The 51-year-old hunter had just bagged a large bull elk east of Vernal, and accidentally stabbed himself with one of the sharp horns as he was trying to roll over the animal to field dress it. The hunter immediately used his cell phone to for help and reported that he was having trouble breathing. He was airlifted to a hospital nearby, and then was transferred to a different facility for surgery. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
