McCain Caught Playing Poker on Phone During Syria Hearing

Chris Maddaloni/CQ Roll Call(WASHINGTON) -- Sen. John McCain is playing down the fact that a photographer caught him playing poker on his iPhone Tuesday when Secretary of State John Kerry and other administration officials were making their case for launching a military strike against Syria before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

It was the screen that gave him away.

McCain later tweeted: “Scandal! Caught playing iPhone game at 3+ hour Senate hearing - worst of all I lost!”

The Arizona Republican was an early proponent of the U.S. taking action to help Syrian rebels and has suggested he would support a military strike to punish President Bashar al-Assad’s regime for the alleged use of chemical weapons.
