MLB? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1379369408362Major League Baseball(WASHINGTON) — In light of the tragedy at the Washington Navy Yard, Major League Baseball has announced the game between the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals scheduled for Monday night has been postponed.

The game instead will be played as part of a day-night doubleheader on Tuesday.

The shootings occurred just blocks from Nationals Park. The postponement was announced shortly after 3 p.m.

“It’s a very emotional day. An extremely horrific act happened very near to the ballpark,” Nationals manager Mike Rizzo said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims over there and all the people affected by this. We felt it was inappropriate to play a Major League Baseball game with such tragedy right down the street.”

ABC is reporting that at least 13 people were killed, and at least 12 others have been wounded as a result of the shooting.

Both the Braves and Nationals were at the ballpark when the announcement was made.
