(NEW YORK) — The CBS reality series Survivor returns for its 27th season Wednesday night. This time, the competition is out to prove whether blood really is thicker than water.
The new season is titled “Blood vs. Water” because it will pit former castaways against their loved ones. They will be divided into separate tribes during the 90-minute premiere.
“Blood vs. Water” will feature the return of Redemption Island, in which eliminated contestants will have the chance to re-enter the game. In a new twist, a castaway will earn redemption only if his or her loved one decides to replace him or her on the island.
The new season of Survivor gets underway at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
