Poll: Many Americans Have Incomplete Understanding of Obamacare
Published at(NEW YORK) — One day before the new health insurance marketplaces open, offering health insurance plans for millions, many Americans still do not completely understand the impact of the Affordable Care Act.
A new national poll by the Commonwealth Fund found that just one-in-three uninsured Americans know about the marketplaces.
While 76 percent of Americans do know that they are required to have health insurance next year, fewer than half are aware of the financial assistance that will be made available to help them pay for the plans.
Americans can go the the health insurance marketplace website to see what coverage is available to them and at what cost. While Sept. 29 is the first day of the enrollment period, Americans don’t need to have a plan selected until March. Coverage through the marketplace starts on Jan. 1.
