Poor Water Killing Carp Below A.F. Dam
Published at | Updated at(AMERICAN FALLS, ID) – Low water flow through the American Falls Dam is causing abnormally high numbers of fish to die. Authorities say poor water quality below the dam is killing carp and suckers. Idaho Power experts believe the fish likely went over the spillway during a microburst last month and were killed on the rocks below because there wasn’t enough water for them to land safely. So far, birds have avoided the fish carcasses, which will now have to be manually removed by volunteers. The reservoir is now at only four percent of its capacity.
