According to police, 13 people — 12 children and one adult — were transported to local hospitals with minor, non-life threatening injuries.  Five others also suffered minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene.

The accident happened just after 2 p.m. at Veteran’s Park, prompting all the amusement rides at the festival to be shut down.  They were reopened around 4:30 p.m. after receiving approval from officials.

The Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigative Unit is investigating the incident with help from the Norwalk Police Department and the Norwalk Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office.
