Puig Leaves Game with Knee Strain
Published at(DENVER) — Los Angeles Dodgers rookie phenom Yasiel Puig left Monday’s 10-8 win over the Colorado Rockies after suffering mild right knee strain.
Although not confirmed, it appears Puig injured the knee somtime during the sixth innning. Puig came up slowly and appeared to point at his knee after sliding safely into third base when teammate Adrian Gonzalez hit a single. Puig then scored on a sacrifice fly by Hanley Ramirez.
Puig was replaced in the bottom half of the inning by Skip Shumaker.
Puig said through an interpreter that there are no plans for an MRI and he would get treatment on his knee Monday night.
Dodgers skipper Don Mattingly says he doesn’t expect Puig to be out long.
The young Cuban is hitting .351 with 14 home runs, 32 RBIs and 10 stolen bases this season.
