“I love growing our sport globally, but logistically to put a team through that would be like punishment,” Long said. “They have great fans there and they were super enthusiastic and awesome to everyone when we were there but to ask people to take those road trips every time they do an away game is just ludicrous.”

On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings will face off at Wembley Stadium in the first of two NFL games in London this season.

Last season, Long and the Rams played in London against the New England Patriots. The Rams wound up losing 45-7.

Long added that being the hosting team, it took away from their preparation for the game and were unable to focus on football.

On Oct. 27, the Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers will also play in London.
