Griffin had surgery almost eight months ago on the MCL, ACL and LCL in his right knee and has been eased into training camp.

Shanahan had a conference call with Dr. James Andrews (the Redskins team doctor), Griffin and general manager Bruce Allen on Sunday, during which Andrews discussed the concerns he has for Griffin after he performed a physical on the 23-year-old last Thursday. Shanahan said that after the call he has no doubt Griffin can play without limitation.

“If we didn’t feel Robert was full-go and ready to play and do all the things you ask a guy to do, he would not be playing in this game,” Shanahan said. “If that’s sprinting out, if it’s running the option, if it’s drop back, he can do all those things because he proved it to us in practice.”
